Bessie Tartt Wilson Initiative for Children Releases New Report on Student Loans

Fri, October 28, 2011

On October 13, 2011, the Bessie Tartt Wilson Initiative for Children released their newest report, An Early Educator’s Dilemma: Balancing Educational Aspirations and Student Loan Burden.

The study, conducted by Boston EQUIP, a project of Associated Early Care and Education, includes surveys and interviews with early childhood educators, who describe a number of financial issues created by the difficulty of paying off their student loans.

The report analyzes data taken from around the state on the challenges early educators face in pursuing higher education and includes recommendations to address these challenges and move the field closer to educational achievement.

The report release was held at The Boston Foundation and included a panel of experts on student loans and early education degree paths in college and university. This panel answered questions from guests and spoke to advocacy opportunities available to support the field.

An Early Educator’s Dilemma: Balancing Educational Aspirations and Student Loan Burden is available on Bessie Tartt Wilson’s website and can be accessed here.
